University of Pennsylvania This article reviews the state of the art of social work practice with homeless persons. The purpose of this article is to make social work practitioners and researchers aware of the empirically supported knowledge about homeless people and how to help them. Different types of interventions for different types of homeless persons are reviewed and 10 areas for practice innovation and advocacy are identified. The authors argue for a practice research that guides interventions to eradicate homelessness.
