Group Intervention to Prevent Tobacco Use Among Native American YouthColumbia University
Columbia University Use rates for smoked and smokeless tobacco are rising more quickly among Native American people than among the general population. Effective preventive interventions must target variables specific to ethnic-racial cultures. This article reports findings from a culturally sensitive intervention to reduce tobacco use among Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest that used classrooms and communities as natural groups. Despite few significant results, a number of trends in the data have implications for future research .
